Love is Not A Fight by Warren Barfield
Love is not a place
To come and go as we please
It's a house we enter in
And then commit to never leave
So lock the door behind you
Throw away the key
We'll work it out together
Let it bring us to our knees
Love is a shelter in a raging storm
Love is peace in the middle of a war
If we try to leave may God send angels to guard the door
No, love is not a fight but it's something worth fighting for
To some, love is a word that they can fall into
But when they're falling out
Keeping that word is hard to do
Love is a shelter in a raging storm
Love is peace in the middle of a war
If we try to leave may God send angels to guard the door
No, love is not a fight but it's something worth fighting for
Love will come to save us, if we'll only call
He will ask nothing from us, but demand we give our all
Love is a shelter in a raging storm
Love is peace in the middle of a war
If we try to leave may God send angels to guard the door
No, love is not a fight but it's something worth fighting for
I would fight for you, would you fight for me?
It's worth fighting for.

Such a good post, Ash! My hubby and I have been married 8 years now and we STILL struggle A LOT. Marriage is so hard at times. We've had some real doozies lately and we've recognized them for what they were (spiritual warfare and selfishness. With the Lord's help we've been victorious in getting through them graciously and it truly does feel like a victory. Maybe after 8 years we're finally learning that love IS worth fighting for. Thanks for your honesty!
ReplyDeleteGlad you shared ;) it's not easy to be that real online, but we all need more of it. Marriage is tough, that's for sure. But you are right WORTH fighting for! Press on sister! Love you!
ReplyDeleteOh yes it's not easy but it is so worth it!! One of the takeaways I got from our sermon yesterday was that God is like our coach on the sidelines of our marriage, cheering us on! (Of course He is not just on the sidelines but I liked the visual picture!) Our pastor reminded us too that one of the things we need to pray for continually every day is for God to soften our hearts towards one another. It was a great reminder! I also like this quote: "A Happy Marriage is a Union Between Two Good Forgivers" :) Thanks for sharing!!
